動名詞

動名詞 Ving 即為表示做某一動作的名詞。當主詞：V-ing ＋單數動詞＋ ... 如：Preparing for tests early is a good study habit. （提早準備考試是好的讀書習慣。）當特定及物動詞的受詞： S ＋ V ＋ V-ing... 如：What do you enjoy doing on weekends? （你週末喜歡做什麼？）當介系詞的受詞： S ＋ be 動詞＋形容詞／ V ＋介系詞＋ V-ing... 如：Eric is thinking about buying a new car. （Eric 正在考慮買一部新車。）主詞補語： S ＋ be 動詞＋ V-ing... 如：Robert’s biggest difficulty is speaking in front of the class.（Robert 最大的困難是在全班面前說話。）受詞補語： S ＋ V ＋受詞＋ V-ing... 如：Parents should spend more time talking with their children. （父母應該多花時間跟他們的孩子說話。）某些動詞以 to V 或 V-ing 作為受詞皆可，但意思可能不同： (1) remember ＋ to V 記得要做某事（還未做）；remember ＋ V-ing 記得做過某事（已做）。 (2) forget ＋ to V 忘記要做某事（未做）；forget ＋ V-ing 忘記做過某事（已做）。 (3) stop ＋ to V（停下來去做 to V 的動作）；stop ＋ V-ing（停止 V-ing 的動作）。下圖為：後方接動名詞的動詞。
